Description

Wonder what it would be like to experience chess like the extraordinary Beth Harmon? Beth’s ability to envision chess moves on her ceiling enabled her to clear her opponents’ pieces from the board and defeat them.

In the Queen’s Gambit, you compete with other players to claim pieces and points from the board. Each turn, you can move your “Gambit” like a different chess piece.

You’ll have to plan ahead like Beth, though, if you want to outwit your opponents and win the game.

  • the Queens Gambit Three games in one

Posted by Leon Lipschitz on 19th Dec 2022

to be Honest i have not seem the TV series Believe it's very good It is on my TO WATCH list I am a chess player loving the various chess variations I prefer Chinese Japanese and Korean chess to western chess bit that's a.personal preference I saw the game as being available and decided to invest on a copy I was not disappointed Although it deals with chess it is a very loose interpretation of the game Firstly only.one piece moves the entire time.for.each of the players There are 4 double.sided cards giving 8 different setups on the board with various tokens representing the different pieces However none of the pieces move bot have different values on them.ranging from a.lowly 3 points to 8 points The object of the game is to.move around the board collecting all the pieces Once the board has been cleared each player totals up the number of.points on the tokens and the player who has amassed the highest number of.points is declared the winner Sounds easy Hug Not quite All your moves are governed by 12 cards which give you ether the Queens move Bishops move Rooks move Or the Knights move You draw 5 cards from the 12 and put it.in your hand You then place the Gambit ) the Queen piece that you use to move around the Board capturing the various point pieces Once you have selected a starting square you then select THREE cards and place them down in front of you face Down Now this is where the fun starts When you place down the cards that is the order you have to play them Each turn you flip the left card and move the Gambit as per the piece shown on the card Having done that the player then adds a card to the remaining two cards on the right and draws a new card and adds it to their hand The strategies come into play on how you lay your cards down three moves ahead The idea is to capture the high scoring prices before your opponents do This game activates and simulates your brain to remember what cards you have laid down so on your next move you can move to your best advantage The set is good bit a little disappointing fie the price you are paying.for it The actual pieces are why the my rateing is a 4 is given rather than 5 which i.would have given if the shortcut had been not utilized All the counters unlike the photo displayed are thick cardboard pieces instead of plastic pieces as shown on the cover That is the only.real negative of the game One of the BIG positives is the fact that you are actually getting THREE GAMES and not just.one game 1) The Queens Gambit as discussed above 2) A regular chess set 3) Neo Chess This additional game makes getting.the set well worth.while Players of SHOGI (JAPANESE.CHESS) will recognize the move over of from SHOGI to Western chess and the capturing of enemy.pieces and using them as your own NEO chess is.not freely.available.but can be played using.two normal chess sets to substitute when.pieces are captured This set has the full western chess pieces on the tokens in reverse colors so when a.piece is captured all that.need ls to.be done is flip the piece.over to your own color and drop it.on the board as.part.of.your own army. This truly is a great.bonus and a.freebee to boot
